Bose Ogulu, mother and longtime manager of Grammy award-winning singer Burna Boy, has addressed ongoing claims that her son comes across as arrogant, insisting that the label is a misunderstanding of confidence.
She made the remarks during a Channels Television interview with Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, where she spoke about public perception and how fame often reshapes how artists are judged.
According to her, being confident and self-aware should not automatically be seen as arrogance, stressing that many people mistake self-assurance for pride.
Ogulu explained that both she and Burna Boy are not disturbed by the opinions people hold about them, adding that what matters is character, not labels attached from the outside.
She further noted that society often expects people to “tone down” their confidence based on background, gender, or even appearance — a mindset she strongly disagrees with.
In her words, knowing your worth should never require apology, and anyone who truly understands themselves should not feel pressured to shrink their identity for public comfort.
