Former Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, has stirred reactions after dropping a blunt take on politics and leadership in Nigeria.

Speaking at a recent event, Sanusi made it clear that public office shouldn’t be seen as a place to make money, but a position of service and responsibility.

According to him, anyone focused on wealth should go into business, not politics.

He said leaders will only be remembered for the impact they make, not the money they acquire while in office.

Sanusi also used the moment to praise Alex Otti, describing him as a strong example of what leadership should look like, noting his performance in Abia State.

His statement has since sparked conversations online, with many Nigerians debating whether politicians truly serve or benefit more from the system.

Some agree with his stance, while others question if the reality of politics in Nigeria allows for that level of integrity.
