Nollywood actor Uzor Arukwe has shared a personal side of his journey, revealing that his father has struggled to accept his career in acting.
Family didn’t believe in his path
According to him, even though his father has heard about his success, he still finds it hard to see acting as a real and stable profession.
“My father has heard that I’m an actor, but he doesn’t want to believe it,” he said.
Mother’s support came later
He also explained that his mother was initially hesitant, largely because she respected her husband’s opinion.
However, with time and as his career progressed, she began to understand and support his decision.
A struggle many can relate to
Uzor’s story reflects a common reality for many young Nigerians choosing creative careers. In many homes, jobs like acting are still seen as risky or uncertain compared to more traditional professions.
Pushing through despite doubts
Despite the early doubts from his family, the actor has continued to grow in Nollywood, building a name for himself through consistency and hard work.
His experience shows that sometimes, belief doesn’t come immediately but results can eventually change minds.
