A Nigerian man has sparked wide reactions online after comparing how much it would cost to buy fuel daily under different administrations, showing how sharply fuel expenses have risen over the years.
According to him, the calculation is based on buying 5 litres of fuel every day for one year under different presidents.
He explained that under former President Olusegun Obasanjo, the yearly cost would be about ₦136,850. Under late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, it would be ₦118,625, while under former President Goodluck Jonathan, it rose to ₦158,775.
He added that under former President Muhammadu Buhari, the same usage would cost about ₦355,875 annually.
However, under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, with fuel reportedly around ₦1,300 per litre, the yearly cost would jump to about ₦2,372,500.
The comparison has triggered debates online, especially as Nigerians continue to feel the impact of fuel subsidy removal on transport, food prices, and business operations.
Many users say the figures reflect the reality of rising living costs, while others argue that the situation shows how difficult survival has become for the average citizen.
The man also questioned how individuals and businesses are expected to cope when a huge portion of income now goes into fuel alone.
