Pastor Dolapo Lawal has stirred a major debate after sharing his honest thoughts about Nigerians relocating abroad.
In a viral sermon clip, he argued that many people moving to the UK are not going there to become rich. They are going there to survive.
“How many people you know that are in the UK who are billionaires? They go there to survive. They don’t go there to be rich. All of them are going there to do care jobs.”
He described the trend of selling properties in Nigeria to rent apartments abroad as “modern slavery.”
“Are you thinking? What are you doing? Instead of you to see how you can get something from God.”
He encouraged young Nigerians to focus on building opportunities at home. According to him, all the billionaires he has met in his life are in Nigeria.
“This is the easiest place to be a billionaire. Be wise.”
The internet is reacting strongly. One person wrote: “He is right. Many people abroad are struggling in silence.” Another said: “Tell that to those who have been trying to survive in Nigeria for years.” 😤
Someone else added: “Easy to be a billionaire in Nigeria? With this economy? He must be joking.”
A different voice said: “He has a point. But not everyone has the connections to make it here.”
