A Nigerian man, Kelechi Williams Igbokwe, has shared an emotional account of his visit to the family of the late Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo.
In a viral Instagram post, he described the weight of silence that filled the room. Seeing Alex’s father, mother, and siblings made the reality of his absence deafening.
“For a few days, I lived in a state of denial. I wanted to believe this was all a movie or some elaborate, cruel prank. But on Tuesday, the credits stopped rolling.”
He revealed that he tried to stay strong for his wife, who is reportedly related to the late actor. He fought every urge to break down because he needed to be her anchor.
He also shared a touching detail about his last conversation with Alex. “You didn’t talk about the things of this world. You talked about your love for Jesus Christ. You encouraged all of us to keep loving God, to keep our eyes on Him.”
He reassured the family that Alex is loved. “The noise of the world doesn’t matter. The truth in that room did.”
He ended with a promise. “We will hold the fort here. We will look after Mazi and the family. And we will keep loving God, just like you told us to.”
The internet is reacting with sadness. One person wrote: “This is so painful. Alex was truly loved.” Another said: “His faith at the end is what matters most. Rest well.”
Someone else added: “The way he spoke about Jesus even in his final days shows where his heart was.”
