A young lady has shared her frustrating experience after rainwater poured through her ceiling and soaked her bed during a heavy downpour on Tuesday night.
She woke up to find her mattress dripping wet, her room flooded, and her belongings scattered in water.
“I just noticed my ceiling is leaking. The rain that fell yesterday entered my room and wet my bed. I had no choice than to dry it outside.”
She was forced to move her mattress and bedding outside under the sun the next morning, hoping it would dry before nightfall.
Neighbors in the area also complained about poor roofing and drainage issues — problems that resurface every rainy season.
The internet is reacting. One person wrote: “This is the reality of many renters in Nigeria.” Another said: “Landlords collect money every year but refuse to fix roofs.”
Someone else added: “She is lucky the ceiling didn’t collapse on her head.”
A different voice said: “Every rainy season, the same struggle. Nothing ever changes.”
Residents are now calling on landlords to repair damaged roofs and improve drainage systems before the next downpour.
