A Nigerian lady has recounted her encounter with a man who allegedly attempted to leave her mother’s shop without paying for an extra item he picked up.

Sharing the story on Facebook, Ofuke Evelyn revealed that the man had visited her mother’s shop to buy a bottle of Smoove drink.

According to her, while she briefly went inside to get the drink, she monitored the customer through the shop’s CCTV camera connected to her phone. During that moment, she noticed him quietly pick up a sachet of Cowbell coffee from the hanger.

At first, she assumed he intended to pay for both items together. However, while distracted with his phone, the man reportedly brought out his ATM card and paid only for the drink.

After completing the transaction, he asked if the payment had gone through, but her response immediately caught him off guard.

Recounting the incident, she wrote:

“Cowbell coffee shock him. He just left without looking back. This year, I’ve already decided that I no dey gree for anybody — both on Facebook and in real life.”

The post has since attracted reactions online, with many social media users praising her calm handling of the situation.

Queen Micky commented: “You acted wisely, my dear. Lesson well learnt.”

Ifeoma Nwadike wrote: “Correct babe. No need to shout ‘thief,’ item collected, money withdrawn.”

Anslem added: “Good for him. After allegedly stealing from people’s accounts, you still want to continue by taking Cowbell coffee from a provision shop.”

Nkem Onkolo also reacted, saying: “Ahh, he’s lucky you didn’t scream.”
