Nigerian billionaire Keji Giwa has sparked widespread reactions online after making controversial remarks about Nigeria’s future and the realities of doing business in the country.

Speaking during a recent podcast appearance, Giwa stated that many people fail to understand how closely business and politics are connected in Nigeria. According to him, entrepreneurs who ignore that reality risk losing everything they have worked for.

“Anybody doing business in Nigeria that doesn’t think politics is part and parcel of their success in doing business in Nigeria has no business doing business in Nigeria,” he said.

Giwa explained that business owners are often criticized for maintaining relationships with political figures, including President Bola Tinubu and members of his administration. However, he argued that such connections are necessary to protect investments and ensure business survival in Nigeria’s challenging environment.

The billionaire further stirred debate when he spoke about his personal outlook on the country’s development, admitting that he is not emotionally attached to Nigeria improving anytime soon.

“My prayer is different from yours,” he said. “I’m banking on Nigeria not getting better.”

He also revealed a strict policy within his organization, stating that any employee who says “God will provide” after making a mistake would be dismissed immediately.

The comments have since generated mixed reactions across social media, with some Nigerians praising his blunt honesty while others criticized his perspective on the country’s future and leadership culture.

Reacting online, one user wrote, “Money really changes how people see the country. This is deep but painful.”

Another added, “So basically survive first, hope for Nigeria later… this one loud.”

The viral conversation has once again reignited debates around business survival, politics, and economic uncertainty in Nigeria.
