Woman Recalls Childhood Incident That Shaped Her Views on Leaving Children With Relatives
A woman has opened up about a childhood experience involving a family member that continues to influence her views on child safety and family trust.
She shared the story during an online conversation about childhood boundaries, the protection of minors, and the importance of respecting children’s privacy.
According to her, the incident occurred when she and her younger sister began showing the early physical signs of puberty. At the time, she was in Junior Secondary School 1, while her sister was in Primary 5.
Recounting the experience, she said their aunt noticed the changes in their bodies and reacted in a way that has stayed with her for years. Rather than handling the situation privately, the aunt reportedly called her eldest son, who was already a university student, to come and look at the two girls.
The woman recalled her aunt exclaiming:
“Ah, they’re becoming women.”
Although years have passed, she said the moment remains vivid in her memory, particularly because of the significant age gap between the young girls and the adult male who was invited to observe them.
Reflecting on how the experience has shaped her perspective as an adult, she said it reinforced her caution about leaving children in the care of extended family members without proper boundaries and supervision.
“My child will never stay with anyone se!”
