An Edo-based pastor, Caleb Adavize Philip, has shared the traumatic experience he and his family endured after they were abducted by kidnappers and held captive for several days.

According to the pastor, he was kidnapped alongside his wife and sister, while their captors demanded a ransom of N50 million for their release. The family eventually regained their freedom after what he described as a deeply distressing ordeal.

In a Facebook post shared on Thursday, June 11, 2026, Philip posted photographs showing himself, his wife, and his sister receiving treatment at a hospital shortly after their release.

The images highlighted the physical and emotional toll the experience had taken on the family, offering a glimpse into the difficult conditions they endured during their time in captivity.

Pastor Speaks on Trauma of Kidnapping

Reflecting on the ordeal, the cleric described the experience as one marked by fear, uncertainty, and immense emotional suffering.

He said the memories of those days remain fresh in his mind and admitted that the trauma would not be easy to overcome.

“I can’t forget this in a hurry, how we were kidnapped — myself, my wife and my sister — for days while they were demanding N50 million for our release,” he wrote.

“The Worst Thing I Could Wish on Anyone”

Expressing the depth of the pain he experienced, Philip said kidnapping is a fate he would never wish on anyone, including his enemies.

“The worst prayer you could pray for your enemies is for them to be kidnapped. Yes, that’s the highest,” he stated.

He also used the opportunity to call for divine intervention in the country’s worsening security situation.

“Lord, save our nation. Thank you, Jesus, for our lives,” he added.

Growing Concern Over Insecurity

Philip’s testimony has resonated with many Nigerians amid ongoing concerns about kidnapping and insecurity across the country. His story serves as another reminder of the devastating impact abduction can have on victims and their families, often leaving lasting emotional and psychological scars long after freedom is regained.

Many social media users who reacted to his post expressed relief over the family’s safe return and offered prayers for their full recovery from the traumatic experience.
