Lady Recounts How Attempting to Help a Stranger Nearly Got Her Branded a Thief

A lady has shared a disturbing experience she encountered while travelling outside Lagos, revealing how a simple act of kindness almost turned into a nightmare after she was wrongly accused of theft.

According to her account, the incident occurred when she noticed a woman frantically searching for a missing mobile phone. The distressed woman was reportedly shouting in public and describing the device in the hope that someone might have seen it.

Moved by the woman’s situation, the lady said she decided to approach her and offer words of encouragement, assuring her that the phone might still be recovered.

She recalled:

“But the part that still shocks me till today is that she didn’t even apologize. She just looked at me and said, ‘Just go, abeg. I thought maybe I’ve found my phone.’ That was it. No sorry. No explanation. Nothing.”

According to her, the woman simply walked away without offering any apology or acknowledging the distress the false accusation had caused.
