Nigerian gospel singer Kunle Kenny has sparked conversations on social media after revealing that he plans to undergo a vasectomy once he and his wife are done having children.
The singer made the disclosure in a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), where he explained his views on family planning and why he does not want his wife to bear the physical burden often associated with hormonal birth control methods.
Family Planning Should Be a Joint Decision
According to Kunle Kenny, the decision to have children should be one that both partners make together. He emphasized that he and his wife intend to welcome children only when they are both in agreement and when the timing feels right.
Sharing his thoughts, he wrote:
“Nobody is putting any birth control thing inside my wife’s body. No extraneous chemicals or pills. We will only have kids when we BOTH unanimously agree, as God allows in His mercy.”
“I’ll Take Responsibility”
The gospel singer went on to explain that once they have the number of children they desire, he plans to take responsibility for preventing future pregnancies by undergoing a vasectomy.
According to him, his decision is driven by concerns about the side effects that some women experience from hormonal contraceptives.
He added:
“And when we’re done, I’m getting a vasectomy. A woman’s body is too sensitive for these chemicals. The side effects are crazy!”
Reactions Trail His Statement
Kunle Kenny’s comments quickly attracted attention online, with social media users sharing mixed reactions to his stance.
While some praised him for considering his wife’s well-being and taking responsibility for family planning, others questioned his views on birth control and shared differing opinions on the best approaches to contraception.
The conversation has since continued across various social media platforms, with many weighing in on the role both partners should play when making decisions about family planning and reproductive health.
