A viral video caused panic across Nigeria. A blogger showed a loaf of bread that allegedly stayed fresh for nearly two months without mould. People were scared. Questions flew everywhere.

Now NAFDAC has spoken.

The agency conducted a full investigation. They took samples from the production facility and from the open market. They ran laboratory tests.

The result? The bread is safe. The preservative used is calcium propionate, and it is within the limits approved by global food standards. No bromate. No harmful substances.

NAFDAC also confirmed that the company has been producing bread since 2006 and has never faced any penalties or product recalls.

The agency advised Nigerians to always report concerns directly to NAFDAC before going to social media.

The internet is reacting. One person wrote: “So the woman was detained for nothing?” Another said: “Science has spoken. Let the matter rest.”
