Popular socialite and nightlife entrepreneur Pascal Okechukwu, widely known as Cubana Chief Priest, has officially announced his intention to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections.

The celebrity businessman shared the news on his Instagram page, revealing that he will run on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC)—a decision he described as both strategic and carefully considered.

According to him, aligning with the ruling party offers a stronger platform to influence federal decisions, particularly in advocating for the release of the detained Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

Explaining why he chose to remain with the APC despite widespread opposition sentiment in parts of the South-East, Cubana Chief Priest said that operating from outside the government limits one’s ability to effect meaningful change.

“I no fit help Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from opposition. I have always been an APC,” he stated.

“My father, Governor Hope, has worked hard within the APC, and I cannot fail to support him as DG of Renewed Hope,” he said.

He also addressed questions about his political stance during the 2023 general elections, when he publicly supported Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi.

Clarifying the matter, Cubana Chief Priest explained that his involvement in the Obidient movement occurred while he was serving as a Special Adviser to Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma.

“Last election, as special adviser to Governor Hope, I worked for Peter Obi, but this time I dey with Asiwaju,” he stated.

The celebrity businessman added that his 2027 political ambition marks a deliberate shift from online influence to active participation in governance.

He emphasized that the South-East needs younger, influential voices within the political system to effectively advocate for the region and promote its interests at the federal level.
