A Ghanaian Bolt driver has gone viral after sharing his blunt—and controversial—take on Nigerians, sparking heated debate online.
In a clip circulating on X (formerly Twitter), the driver told a tourist that Nigerians are quick to ask for money, describing it as a habit he frequently observes:
“If you go to Nigeria eeh, the whole people are beggars. They will beg you for money. That’s to tell you how much they beg.”
The remarks divided social media users. Many criticized him for generalizing an entire nation, arguing that not all Nigerians behave this way. Others said his comments reflected experiences they’ve had while visiting or living in Nigeria.
Social media reactions ranged from agreement to outrage. One user wrote:
“This is 100% true in some areas, but you can’t say everyone does it.”
Another added humorously:
“People are too quick to generalize. Ghanaians are the real beggars.”
The viral clip has reignited conversations about stereotypes, travel experiences, and how sweeping generalizations can stir strong reactions online.
