A Nigerian man has stirred reactions online after revealing the amount an Anglican church allegedly requested for his grandfather’s burial.
The man, identified as @daddyfemzy on X (formerly Twitter), shared that the church demanded nearly ₦500,000 before proceeding with the burial arrangements.
Man expresses frustration
According to him, the church—located in Osun State—charged fees for multiple aspects of the burial, suggesting that almost everything connected to the process was monetised.
“Anglican Church for Osun here charged us almost ₦500k for my grandpa’s burial. Everything, including people who die, is being taxed heavily,” he wrote.
His post quickly gained traction online, with many users expressing shock and disappointment over the alleged charges.

The comment section was flooded with differing opinions, as users debated the role of churches and the rising cost of burial rites.
One user, Blaze Same, questioned the charges, writing, “How do you explain this? Are they using the money to send him straight to heaven? Check well, maybe it’s a private setup.”
