Barcelona have reportedly made a fresh contract offer to veteran striker Robert Lewandowski, proposing a reduced salary in an attempt to keep him at the club beyond this season. The 37‑year‑old’s current deal is due to expire in June 2026, and talks over his future are ongoing amid strong interest from other clubs across the world.
Under the terms being discussed, Barcelona’s new offer would see Lewandowski extend his stay for another year, but with his wages cut by around 50 per cent compared with his current earnings. Performance‑based incentives would be included to boost his overall potential earnings if he continues to deliver on the pitch.
Club president Joan Laporta has publicly indicated his desire to retain the Polish forward, and both the club and the player’s camp are reported to be speaking positively about the negotiations. Despite this, Lewandowski has made it clear that no final decision has yet been made and that he is still evaluating his options.
Barcelona’s plan reflects broader squad‑building challenges. The club is aiming to refresh its attacking lineup and is reportedly considering signing a new centre‑forward this summer. That in turn has raised questions about how many strikers the squad can sustain and whether Lewandowski, Ferran Torres and any new arrivals can all be accommodated.
Even as Barcelona pursue renewal talks, interest in Lewandowski remains high internationally. Sources have linked him with potential moves to clubs in Europe’s top leagues, including Juventus and AC Milan, while teams in Major League Soccer such as Chicago Fire and in the Saudi Pro League have also been mentioned as possible destinations should he decide to leave Barcelona.
For Lewandowski himself, the choice appears to involve weighing financial terms against playing time, family considerations and career ambitions as he approaches the later stages of his illustrious career.
