A Nigerian lady has sparked nationwide concern after sharing a startling conversation with a commercial bus driver about alleged voter card manipulation ahead of the 2027 general elections. According to the woman, the driver revealed details of a meeting he attended under the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), where instructions regarding voters’ participation were reportedly discussed.
In a viral video circulating on X (formerly Twitter), she said:
“I boarded a bus, and the driver said he just came back from a mandatory NURTW meeting. They were given one derica of rice, their voter cards were collected, and their fingerprints were taken on palm kernel seeds. He said whether you show up to vote or not, your vote is already in their hands. He even claimed students are being offered ₦500k to surrender their voter cards.”
Expressing deep concern over the alleged activities, the lady added:
“We’re honestly not angry enough. If these claims are true, it could undermine the credibility of our elections and weaken public trust in democratic institutions.”
The post has since gone viral, prompting intense discussions online. While some Nigerians expressed fear and frustration, others questioned the authenticity of the claims and called for a thorough investigation by electoral authorities.
With the 2027 elections months away, this revelation has raised serious questions about voter integrity and the mechanisms in place to prevent electoral malpractice.
