Popular Nigerian comedian and activist Mr Macaroni has opened up on why he refused an invitation from Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu during the 2020 #EndSARS protests.
Speaking in a recent interview, he made it clear that his decision was based on principle, not pride.
According to him, at a time when Nigerians were demanding answers over police brutality, a private meeting wasn’t the solution.
Instead, he believed leaders should address citizens openly and take responsibility in public.
“Don’t call me privately,” he insisted.
Mr Macaroni stressed that the governor, as a public servant, owes accountability to the people — not quiet discussions behind closed doors.
His stance has once again stirred conversations online, with many praising his boldness, while others believe dialogue—public or private—could have helped the situation.
Either way, his message remains clear:
accountability should never be hidden
