A major political development is making rounds as President Bola Tinubu has reportedly carried out a cabinet reshuffle affecting key ministries in the Federal Government.
According to reports linked to a memo from the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, has been relieved of his duties.
In his place, Taiwo Oyedele has been appointed as the new Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy.
The reshuffle also affects the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, where Dr Muttaqha Rabe Darma has been named ministerial nominee-designate.
The memo directed that all handover processes be completed by April 23, 2026, while urging affected officials to ensure a smooth transition.
The statement explained that the changes are part of efforts to improve government coordination and strengthen economic delivery under the administration’s “Renewed Hope Agenda.”
It also noted that the President acted under constitutional powers as part of ongoing government restructuring.
