A Nigerian man has opened up about why he quit sports betting, sharing a heartbreaking experience that has now gone viral online.
According to him, gambling didn’t just drain his money — it cost him valuable assets.
“Let me tell you why I stopped sports betting…” he said.
He revealed that he once owned two plots of land, but after suffering heavy losses, he was forced to sell one out of desperation just to recover his money.
Shockingly, the land valued at ₦5 million was sold for just ₦2.5 million.
But things didn’t get better.
He explained that within weeks, he lost the remaining money again to betting, leaving him with almost nothing.
“Betting took everything I had,” he added.
His story has sparked serious reactions online, with many Nigerians calling it a hard lesson about the dangers of gambling and chasing losses.
Some users sympathised with him, while others warned that sports betting can easily become addictive if not controlled.
