Senator Ned Nwoko has finally spoken after reports emerged that he lost the APC Delta North senatorial primary election to former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.
According to results shared online, Okowa secured a landslide victory with 113,309 votes. Nwoko polled just 2,612 votes. Another aspirant, Maryam Alli, got 40 votes.
But Nwoko is not conceding just yet. In a statement, he acknowledged the massive turnout of supporters across Delta North and expressed appreciation for their loyalty.
He said the exercise reflected strong political engagement from constituents and described the turnout as a clear expression of trust and shared belief in his vision.
Nwoko noted that he is awaiting the official declaration by the party’s national committee. He stated that he does not take the confidence shown by his supporters for granted, adding that it strengthens his commitment to continue serving.
The internet is reacting. One person wrote: “The results are clear. He should accept defeat and move on.” Another said: “He is waiting for official declaration. That means he might challenge the result.” 😬
Someone else added: “113k to 2.6k is not a defeat. It is a landslide. He should congratulate Okowa.”
A different voice said: “Nwoko is a politician. He knows how to play the game. Let’s see what happens next.”
