A Nigerian lady has shared her first encounter with late Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo, alongside a screenshot of their conversation.
According to her, they first worked together in 2016. She described him as a pleasant and formidable presence. His death has left her heartbroken.
“My first filming with you was in 2016 and from then till date, you have been nothing but pleasant. May God give your family and friends the grace to bear this huge loss.”
In the chat she shared, she informed him about an upcoming movie project. He asked which platform it was for. She said YouTube.
She also checked on his well-being. He replied, “I’m very well, I’m doing good, just taking my time off. Thanks for checking in.”
That was one of his final messages to her. Now, looking back, that simple “thanks for checking in” feels heavier.
The internet is reacting. One person wrote: “Even in his final days, he was still kind and polite.” Another said: “He was taking time off. Resting. But the sickness had already won.” 😢
Someone else added: “These little chats mean so much now that he is gone.”
Alex Ekubo passed away on May 11, 2026, at the age of 40, after a battle with advanced metastatic kidney cancer.
