A senior aide to the Delta State Governor has told Peter Obi that his chances of winning the 2027 presidential election are slim.
Ossai Ovie Success, the Governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Media, made the assertion in a Facebook post directed at the former Labour Party candidate.
He argued that the political conditions that worked for Obi in 2023 will not be repeated in 2027. The protest votes, the regional sympathy, the religious factors he says all of that has changed.
“The political landscape is expected to shift significantly. The magic that made you popular last time is gone. I don’t see you winning.”
He also expressed personal disappointment in Obi’s political direction, insisting that 2027 will present a different challenge that may not favour him.
Peter Obi emerged as a major contender in 2023, gaining massive support from young voters and urban populations. His performance introduced a strong third-force movement that shook traditional politics.
The internet is reacting. One person wrote: “He is just an aide. His opinion does not matter.” Another said: “He might be right. 2023 was a wave. 2027 will be different.”
Someone else added: “Obi’s movement is not about one election. It is about changing Nigeria.”
A different voice said: “Let them keep underestimating Obi. That is what they did in 2023.”
The debate is heating up ahead of the 2027 elections. Will Peter Obi still be a force to reckon with?
What do you think does Obi still have a chance?
