A Nigerian military officer has stirred reactions online after sharing his views on voting and leadership ahead of the 2027 general election.
In a viral video, he clarified that members of the military do not participate in voting. But the leaders civilians elect will ultimately give them instructions to follow.
“We do not vote, but anybody wey una vote, na him go give us order wey we go follow. Otherwise, watimagbo.”
He urged citizens to vote for the right person. He advised against voting for leaders driven by money or personal gain.
“Vote for leader wey no dey in love of money, but they are in love of justice. Vote for a leader wey no like publicity but he likes humanity.”
The internet is reacting. One person wrote: “He is indirectly telling us that if we vote badly, we will suffer the consequences.” Another said: “Watimagbo. That word alone is a warning.” 😤
Someone else added: “The military is watching. We better get our votes right.”
A different voice said: “This is the most honest statement from a serving officer.”
