A woman has opened up about her struggle with homelessness and poverty. But what is breaking hearts the most is her loyalty.
She and her husband moved to Abuja hoping for a better life. Things went wrong. Since January, they have been homeless. They sleep outside. They barely eat. But she says she will never leave him.
Her family turned against her because she refused to marry another man. Her own grandmother chased her out of the house.
“I cannot leave my husband for any reason. Because of him, all my family members abandoned me. We’ve been homeless since January and we sleep outside, but I’ll never leave my husband. We barely see food to eat and people laugh at us as if we are nothing.”
She said her husband was not always poor. He had money when she got pregnant. But things changed. Now they are holding onto faith and prayer.
The internet is reacting strongly. One person wrote: “This is the definition of ‘for better or for worse.’ She is rare.”
