Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has been named the Premier League Player of the Season. His individual campaign was nothing short of historic.
He scored eight league goals. But the real story is his creativity. He recorded 20 assists β equaling the Premier League record for most assists in a single season. He now shares that record with Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.
His performances helped Manchester United secure Champions League qualification for next season.
Fernandes is the first United player to win the award since Nemanja MatiΔ in the 2010/11 season. He is also the seventh United player to receive the honour, joining legends like Peter Schmeichel, Dwight Yorke, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Wayne Rooney.
He had already been crowned Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year earlier this month.
He beat strong competition, including Arsenal’s David Raya, Gabriel MagalhΓ£es, Declan Rice, Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, and others.
