Media personality Raye has sparked conversations online after sharing her views on the difference between enjoying comfort through someone else’s financial support and building lasting wealth through personal effort.

Speaking on financial independence, Raye argued that while being a “sugar baby” may provide access to luxury and a comfortable lifestyle, it rarely leads to genuine wealth or long-term financial security.

According to her, many women in such arrangements may enjoy expensive lifestyles — including paid rent, designer items, vacations, and what is often described as a “soft life” — but she stressed that access to luxury is not the same as ownership or financial freedom.

“Just being a sugar baby can make you a lot of money, but it’s almost never going to make you wealthy,” she said.

She explained that the lifestyle is often dependent on another person’s willingness to continue providing support, making it uncertain and temporary.

“The problem with access is the day the person who is funding your life gets tired, finds someone new, or simply decides he’s done, your entire life is going to disappear overnight,” she added.

Raye contrasted that reality with women who focus on building careers or businesses, noting that although the process may seem slower and less glamorous at first, it creates stability and long-term security.

According to her, women who build their own careers and businesses are creating something sustainable that cannot easily be taken away from them.

“Because when a career woman makes money, it did not come from a man’s mood. It came from her own value. Nobody can wake up one day and break up with her income. That’s the difference,” she said.

Her comments have since generated mixed reactions online, with some social media users praising her message on independence and self-worth, while others argued that financially supportive relationships can also be beneficial when approached wisely.
