A Nigerian woman has taken to social media to express her frustration after a major road was reportedly rendered impassable during Eid celebrations, leaving many commuters stranded.
In a video shared on X (formerly Twitter), she lamented that traffic came to a complete halt as a large crowd gathered along a busy roadway for Eid prayers. According to her, the situation made it impossible for both private and commercial vehicles to move, disrupting the plans of workers and other road users trying to get to their destinations.
“We can’t go to work. Nobody can move. Cars are at a standstill, people are just there waiting,” she said in the clip.
She questioned why such a gathering was allowed on a major road, stressing that the blockage caused unnecessary hardship for people who had no alternative routes at the time. While acknowledging the importance of religious celebrations, she argued that using a busy roadway for such activities can seriously affect others with urgent obligations.
The video has since generated mixed reactions online. Some users agreed with her concerns about traffic disruption, while others defended the Eid gathering, describing it as an important religious observance.
Meanwhile, many commenters are calling for better coordination between religious organizers and traffic authorities to prevent similar situations in the future.
