A young married woman has shared an embarrassing experience after unknowingly serving spoiled food to her husband’s visiting friend from Canada. She is now seeking advice online on whether she should apologise or take steps to make amends.
According to her, the incident happened after her husband informed her that his best friend, who had travelled in from Canada for an event in Abuja, would be staying with them for two days.
She explained that her husband also gave her money to prepare a good meal for the visitor. However, she admitted that she did not use the money as intended, saying she had previously asked her husband for financial help that was not available at the time.
Instead, she decided to use a batch of fried rice she had cooked about two nights earlier and stored in the freezer. She said she only added some freshly prepared meat before reheating and serving it to the guest.
Unknowingly, however, the rice had gone bad.
When the guest tasted the food, he reportedly stopped eating immediately. Her husband also tried it and reacted the same way, leading to an uncomfortable confrontation in front of the visitor.
According to her, the situation escalated as her husband questioned what had gone wrong and where the food came from. She explained that she had simply used the stored rice and was unaware it had spoiled.
The visiting friend, visibly unsettled by the incident, later requested to stay in a nearby hotel instead of remaining in the couple’s home.
The woman further revealed that her husband later informed her that the same friend had been assisting them with plans to process relocation to Canada through school—something she says she was not aware of at the time.
The revelation, she said, added to her shock, as she had not known the visitor was playing such a significant role in their future plans.
Now reflecting on the incident, she is asking for advice on whether she should personally reach out to the friend to apologise or take further steps, such as preparing another meal to help repair the situation and her image in his eyes.
