Gospel singer Adeyinka Alaseyori has called on Nigerians to intensify prayers for the country amid growing concerns over insecurity and the recent wave of child abductions across parts of the nation.
The singer made the appeal during a public exhortation shared online on Sunday, urging citizens to offer spiritual support for affected families, security personnel, and government leaders working to address the crisis.
Call for national prayer
According to Alaseyori, the increasing frustration and criticism surrounding the handling of kidnapping cases should not distract Nigerians from the importance of prayer and national unity.
She stressed that moments of tragedy require collective support rather than political division, arguing that both spiritual and practical efforts are necessary to overcome the country’s security challenges.
“Many people are saying the prayers they have been praying are not working, but believe me, prayers are working,” she said.
“Don’t let anybody use you for political whatever. From the president to the last person in Nigeria, we need to pray.”

The gospel artiste also highlighted the sacrifices made by security personnel involved in rescue operations, urging Nigerians to show empathy toward families whose loved ones risk their lives while carrying out dangerous assignments.
She maintained that prayer should complement ongoing security efforts rather than replace them.
“Those children are your children. They are my children. You can’t say the president and security personnel are not working. Sometimes they are close, and something just covers their eyes—that’s where prayer comes in,” she added.
