Another day, another person dragging the Moniepoint CEO. This time, it is a tech lady who is not afraid to call things exactly as she sees them. π£οΈ
In a viral video shared on X, she dismissed his recent comment about struggling to find skilled workers in Nigeria as “big BS.” Her reason? Nigerian employers want too much and offer too little. Plain and simple. π
“You want skillful workers and you don’t want to pay,” she said, looking straight into the camera.
She shared her own story to prove a point. Her first corporate job came with just an SSCE certificate. No degree. No master’s. But her employer focused on her ability, not her papers. She worked alongside BSc holders and got the job done. πβ
Then she dropped the question everyone is talking about: “You want that lady or that guy with five to ten years experience? You want to pay me β¦200,000? Are you okay?” π³
She did not stop there. She dragged the wider system too. Security guards earning β¦30,000. Domestic staff underpaid. A minimum wage of β¦70,000 that barely covers anything. Yet employers complain about not finding skilled people. π€·π½ββοΈ
Her video has since split the internet. Some say she spoke nothing but facts. Others argue that years of experience do not automatically equal high pay. But one thing is certain she has added more fuel to an already blazing fire.
βOwner of Moniepointβs statement is biased. Thereβs a major problem with employers in the Nigerian system, they donβt want to pay well, yet they expect highly skilled workers. I have over 15 years of work experience, and I can confidently say Nigerian employers are notβ¦ pic.twitter.com/LFcy5gI0Kp
