A young Nigerian lady, Mabel Aruwajoye, has shared an inspiring academic journey that is warming hearts online.
She finished secondary school at age 12 in 2018. She was the best graduating student in her set. But admission didn’t come. She watched her mates gain entry while she stayed back.
Her parents refused to let her give up. She took Cambridge A Levels and finished with A*AB in 2020. Then in 2021, she gained admission into the University of Ibadan to study Biomedical Laboratory Science.
The road was rough. She faced a malaria scare days before her First Professional Exam. She passed with Distinction anyway. She later earned another Distinction in her Final Professional Exam.
Two professional exams. Two Distinctions. A 2:1 degree. And a license.
Eight years after secondary school, she is now a 21-year-old licensed Medical Laboratory Scientist.
She wrote: “To God, my parents, siblings, friends, thank you. It can only be GOD.”
The internet is celebrating her. One person said: “12 years old finished secondary school. 21 years old, degree holder. This is greatness.” Another wrote: “This is the kind of story we need to see more often. Hard work pays.”
