The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is facing a major shake-up as its Board of Trustees (BoT) has stepped in to take over the party’s leadership.
This follows a Supreme Court ruling that nullified the party’s 2025 national convention in Ibadan — the same event that produced its main leaders. With that decision, the existing leadership structure has effectively been wiped out.
In response, the Board of Trustees, led by Adolphus Wabara, said it had to step in immediately to prevent a leadership vacuum and stabilise the party.
The trustees described the move as temporary, adding that plans are already in place to convene an emergency meeting where an interim leadership will be appointed to run party affairs.
Party members have also been urged to stay united and avoid further division as the PDP works through the crisis ahead of the 2027 elections.
The development marks a major turning point for the party, with many now watching closely to see how the situation unfolds.
