Tinubu speaks on reforms, opposition criticism, and 2027 support as Enugu delegation visits Aso Rock
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared that democracy in Nigeria will continue to thrive despite what he described as intimidation and criticism, insisting that his administration remains focused on national development and economic recovery.
He made the remarks at the State House in Abuja while receiving a high-level delegation from Enugu State led by Governor Peter Mbah, alongside other political leaders, traditional rulers, and former office holders.
Tinubu assured the delegation that his government is committed to building what he called a “nation of hope,” stressing that ongoing reforms are already producing visible results across key sectors such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, and security.
He urged Nigerians to ignore critics and stay focused on national progress, adding that his administration is determined to deliver long-term development despite short-term challenges.
The President also highlighted federal support for states, noting that increased resources are enabling governors to execute development projects more effectively. He further referenced ongoing infrastructure plans, including rail and power sector reforms, as part of efforts to strengthen economic growth.
In response, Governor Mbah expressed appreciation for the federal government’s support to Enugu State, describing Tinubu’s visit and interventions as impactful. He also reaffirmed political alignment ahead of 2027, declaring that the state would stand with the President in the next election cycle.
Other members of the delegation, including former Senate President Ken Nnamani and several ex-governors, also praised the administration’s engagement with the South-East and pledged continued support.
The meeting has since generated political reactions online, especially over its implications for alliances ahead of the 2027 general elections.
