Rufai Oseni, an anchor with Arise Television, engaged in a tense live interview on Friday with Michael Freeman, Israel’s Ambassador to Nigeria, as he challenged the diplomat over Israel’s military history and current policies.
The heated exchange focused on historical incidents such as the King David Hotel bombing as well as recent civilian casualties in Gaza.
During the discussion, Oseni repeatedly pressed the ambassador on allegations of human rights violations by Israel in both the West Bank and Gaza.
At one point in the interview, Oseni firmly insisted on completing his remarks before the ambassador could respond.
“Do not interrupt me, ambassador. Let me finish,” he said, while arguing that Israel’s foreign policy shows what he described as a pattern of historical and ongoing contradictions, particularly regarding criticism of Iran over its nuclear programme.
Ambassador responds to allegations
Responding to the claims, Ambassador Freeman strongly disputed several of Oseni’s statements.
“Some of the statements you made at the beginning were outrageous and absolutely based on no facts,” he said.
Freeman defended Israel’s actions in recent conflicts, including what he described as a 12-day war targeting Iran’s nuclear programme, arguing that Iran continues to pursue nuclear development despite economic pressure and internal challenges.
He also pointed to Iran’s ongoing investment in missile technology and uranium enrichment, as well as its alleged support for militant groups across the region.
