General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor E.A. Adeboye, has stirred fresh reactions online after sharing his views on what men should consider before marriage.

Speaking during a sermon, the cleric advised men to look beyond emotions and focus on practical qualities like cooking skills, hospitality, intelligence, and character when choosing a life partner.

According to him, these qualities play a major role in building a peaceful and stable home.

“Don’t marry a girl who cannot cook… if she can’t cook and be hospitable, you’re heading for trouble,” he said.

He added that even spiritual approval alone should not override basic life skills, stressing that marriage requires both wisdom and practicality.

The statement has since triggered mixed reactions online. While some agree with his traditional view of marriage roles, others argue that modern relationships should be based on shared responsibility rather than fixed expectations.

The debate continues to trend across social media, with Nigerians divided over the pastor’s remarks.
