A story shared on X (formerly Twitter) has sparked online debate after a father reportedly called off his daughter’s introduction ceremony over how her fiancé behaved during a visit.
According to the post, the man greeted his would-be father-in-law but allegedly walked past him while he was washing his car without offering to help.
The father reportedly saw the behaviour as a warning sign about the man’s character and sense of responsibility in marriage.
He was said to have argued that, just as women are expected to demonstrate “wife material” qualities when meeting in-laws, men should also show signs of being helpful and willing to contribute.
In his view, a man who would not assist with a simple task like washing a car might also be unwilling to share domestic responsibilities or support his wife after marriage.
The post read in part:
