A Nigerian military officer, Lieutenant Abdullahi Isma’il Chafe, has reportedly been killed in an ambush in Sokoto State. His wedding was scheduled for June 13, 2026 just weeks away.
According to reports circulating online, multiple officers lost their lives during the attack. Security authorities have not yet officially confirmed the details.
A cousin of the fiancée broke the news on social media. “There was an ambush on the Nigerian military late yesterday night in Sokoto. My cousin, whose wedding was a few weeks from today, lost her fiancé.”
A wedding invitation bearing the late officer’s name has also surfaced online.
The internet is reacting with sadness and anger. One person wrote: “This is heartbreaking. He was about to start a new chapter of his life.” Another said: “Our military men are dying every day. The government needs to do more.”
Someone else added: “Weeks to his wedding. His fiancée will never forget this pain.”
The family is waiting for official confirmation from the military authorities.
