Nigerian Lady Recounts Terrifying First Flight Experience, Says She ‘Gave Her Life to Christ’ Mid-Air
A Nigerian woman has gone viral on X (formerly Twitter) after sharing the hilarious yet nerve-racking story of her first-ever flight experience.
According to her, what began as excitement quickly turned into panic shortly after the aircraft took off from Lagos en route to Enugu.
The woman explained that although she had looked forward to flying, fear overwhelmed her once the plane left the ground. Thoughts of possible crashes and other worst-case scenarios flooded her mind, leaving her visibly shaken throughout the journey.
Recalling the experience, she wrote:
“The first time I boarded a flight, I repented of all my sins and gave my life to Christ right there on the plane. I was enjoying everything until take-off. Ah! Every bad thought imaginable entered my head that day.
‘What if the plane crashes? What if something happens in the air?’ Every negative story I had ever heard about flying started replaying in my mind.
I was shaking so much that the elderly woman sitting beside me noticed. She held my hand and told me to calm down.
I even told God that if we landed safely, I would never step on a plane again. Honestly, it felt like I went to heaven and came back before we finally landed in Enugu.”
She also reflected on how affordable the trip was at the time compared to current airfares.
“Back then, the flight ticket cost about ₦17,000. I paid for economy class and was so excited about flying home. We took off from Lagos and landed in Enugu,” she said.
Despite the fear she experienced during the flight, the woman admitted that she eventually changed her mind after landing safely.
“When we landed, I told God not to mind what I had said earlier because I was just scared. Deep down, I would still love to fly again.
“Unfortunately, it’s not as easy now because ticket prices have increased from about ₦17,000 to well over ₦120,000.”
Her story has since generated amusement online, with many Nigerians sharing similar experiences from their own first flights, while others joked about making promises to God during moments of fear that they later abandoned once the danger had passed.
