A young woman has set social media buzzing after sharing her unconventional definition of virginity, challenging long-held beliefs and sparking intense debate online.
In a viral video circulating on X (formerly Twitter), the lady confidently argued that virginity should not be defined by sexual experience, but by marital status. According to her, the original meaning of the word “virgin” referred to an unmarried woman, not necessarily someone who has never had sex.
She went further to criticise how the concept has evolved over time, claiming it has been shaped in a way that places unnecessary pressure on women and attaches shame to their personal choices.
“Many of you may not understand this… but I am still a virgin. I’m not married,” she said, insisting that society has redefined the term in a way that makes women feel judged or “tainted.”
Encouraging women to break free from labels, she urged them to define themselves on their own terms rather than conform to societal expectations.
Her statement has since divided opinions online. While some applauded her for promoting self-definition and empowerment, others strongly disagreed, arguing that her interpretation distorts the widely accepted meaning of virginity.
