A lady has sparked debate on social media after revealing why she refused to contribute ₦20,000 for a friend’s wedding aso ebi, claiming she only found out about the engagement and upcoming ceremony through TikTok.

According to the woman, she was never personally informed about her friend’s introduction ceremony or wedding plans.
She explained that she first learned about the engagement after coming across videos on TikTok. Despite feeling left out, she said she chose not to take offense and instead congratulated the bride.
However, the situation took a different turn when she later received a message requesting payment for aso ebi ahead of the wedding.

The lady said she initially had no issue with contributing and was prepared to make the payment.
Her decision changed, however, after she noticed that the same message, complete with payment details, had also been forwarded to her aunt.
According to her, the request made her feel more like a financial contributor than a valued friend who should have been included in important milestones leading up to the wedding.
Sharing her experience online, she wrote:
“You did introduction, didn’t tell me, I saw it on TikTok, still said congrats. Wedding in August, you told everyone but me. I no vex. Then you sent ‘Aso ebi ₦20,000’ to my WhatsApp. I said okay.
Next thing, you sent it to my aunt + account details… I just laugh in isiZulu because I no go send you kobo. Congrats in advance my dear.”
