Nollywood actor Charles Inojie has shared a deeply personal story about his upbringing, revealing how family conflict shaped his early life.
Speaking during a recent interview, the comic actor didn’t hold back as he reflected on his relationship with his father and the challenges he faced growing up in a blended home.
“I only stayed with my father for 8 months”
According to him, his time living with his biological father was short-lived—and far from peaceful.
He explained that from the moment he moved in, tension became a daily reality, largely due to issues with his stepmother.
“In all my life, I’ve only lived with my father for eight months. From the moment I got there, it was trouble every day,” he said.
The situation reportedly escalated to a point where his stepmother gave an ultimatum—forcing his father to choose between his wife and his son.
“She told him to choose between me and her… and he chose her.”
Education almost delayed
Charles also revealed that the impact went beyond emotional rejection—it affected his future.
When he eventually secured admission into the university, instead of support, he was asked to put his education on hold.
The reason? He should wait for his stepmother’s much younger child so they could attend school together.
“She said I should wait for her child to grow so we can go together… someone I’m about 18 years older than.”
