A 34-year-old businessman has opened up about the emotional and financial strain he says has overwhelmed his life since marrying a younger woman.
In a lengthy post circulating online, the man shared how his once-thriving business and peaceful lifestyle have been deeply affected by the responsibilities he assumed after tying the knot.
According to him, his mother had encouraged him to settle down after he achieved financial success. He eventually met and married a 25-year-old woman following a brief courtship.
Journey to success
The businessman explained that his rise to success came after a difficult period in his early adulthood. He revealed that he had to drop out of college at the age of 20 after the death of his father, which forced him to take on the responsibility of supporting his mother and three younger siblings.
To keep the family afloat, he said he and his mother worked tirelessly, taking on various small jobs to pay household bills and fund his siblings’ education.
By the time he turned 25, he had managed to save enough money to start an electronics business. Over the years, the business grew steadily, and within seven years he had achieved significant financial success, including purchasing three houses and three luxury cars.
Marriage agreement brings unexpected burden
The businessman said he met his wife’s family after just three months of dating, shortly before their wedding.
During their meeting, he claimed that her family made it clear that she was “their most precious child” and that whoever married her would be expected to support the entire family financially.
At the time, he agreed to the condition because his business was doing very well.
However, he said the situation changed soon after their marriage.
Six months into the union, two of his wife’s sisters reportedly moved into their home. When his wife became two months pregnant, he said her parents and the rest of her siblings also moved in, explaining that they wanted to be close by to support her during the pregnancy.
Mounting expenses and growing tension
Two years later, the businessman said his wife’s entire family is still living with them and depends almost entirely on him financially.
He explained that the constant financial demands and household expenses have become overwhelming.
Adding to his frustration, he claimed his wife does not allow his own mother or siblings to visit their home, arguing that the house is already too crowded with her relatives.
Whenever he suggests that her family should return to their own home, he said his wife becomes upset and threatens to leave the marriage.
Business struggles and emotional toll
The situation has also begun to affect his business. The man revealed that his company has recently faced financial difficulties, forcing him to sell one of his houses to keep the business afloat.
He said things became even more painful when his mother-in-law recently asked him to buy her a new phone. When he explained that his business was not doing well, he said she responded by telling him that he should have “left her daughter for the rich man they originally planned to give her to” if he could not meet their expectations.
The businessman admitted that the pressure has left him both physically and emotionally drained.
He said he had once planned to sponsor his siblings’ education abroad, but his income is now being consumed by the needs of his wife’s relatives.
According to him, the situation has also created a growing distance between him and his own family members, leaving him feeling isolated.
“I feel completely alone,” he wrote, while seeking advice from the public on how to handle the situation and possibly save both his marriage and his business.
