A Muslim cleric has gone viral after making a striking claim about a Qur’anic verse he says can stop a thief during a car chase.
In a video circulating on X (formerly Twitter), the cleric stated that if someone is being pursued by a thief in a vehicle, there is a specific verse in the Qur’an that can be recited for divine intervention.
According to him, reciting the verse would cause Allah to “transfer the fuel” from the attacker’s car into the victim’s vehicle, leaving the thief stranded mid-chase.
In his words:
“If a thief is chasing you in a car, there is a verse in the Qur’an that, if you recite it, Allah will transfer the fuel from the thief’s car to yours until their fuel finishes, and they won’t be able to chase you anymore.”
The statement has since sparked intense debate online. While some supporters defended the cleric, saying spiritual protection is an important part of faith, others questioned the interpretation and warned against taking such claims literally.
One social media user commented, “Faith is powerful, but let’s not mislead people.” Another added humorously, “Abeg, still lock your doors and buy fuel.”
Although many believers maintain that nothing is impossible with God, critics cautioned that messages like this could create a false sense of security, particularly in situations involving crime and personal safety.
