Veteran Yoruba actor, Taiwo Hassan, has stirred conversations after sharing his views on romantic relationships that sometimes develop between senior actors and apprentices in the film industry.

Speaking in an interview with Feelrightvnews, the actor explained that theatre environments often involve close interaction, long working hours, and emotional bonding — factors that can naturally lead to relationships.

“Nothing Wrong If It’s Consensual”

Ogogo stated that there is nothing inappropriate about a senior colleague expressing romantic interest in an apprentice, as long as it is based on mutual consent and free will.

He emphasized that no form of pressure, coercion, or abuse of influence should be involved in such relationships.

“It’s not a crime for a boss to ask his apprentice out… as long as he didn’t force her,” he said.

Theatre Environment Encourages Bonding

According to him, the film industry often creates strong familiarity among members, which can sometimes lead to attraction and personal relationships.

He also noted that some people join theatre groups with different intentions, including admiration for established actors.

Reactions and Debate

Ogogo’s comments have sparked mixed reactions online, with some agreeing that adults should have the freedom to choose their relationships, while others argue that power imbalance in such settings can make the situation complicated.

The discussion adds to ongoing debates around workplace relationships, consent, and professional boundaries in the entertainment industry.

“it’s not a crime for a boss to ask his apprentice out, contentment is satisfaction. there’s not suppose to be problem in a boss dating his apprentice as long as he didn’t force her. some girls do learn theatre because they want to date the boss.
