Primate Ayodele Warns Peter Obi Over Alliance With Kwankwaso
A fresh political debate has emerged over the reported alliance between former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and former Kano State governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
The leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has claimed that the political partnership could ultimately undermine Obi’s presidential ambitions.
Ayodele Questions Obi’s Political Judgement
In a statement released through his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, Ayodele alleged that Obi was allowing desperation to influence his political decisions and was placing trust in individuals who may not share his long-term political objectives.
The cleric claimed that Obi had ignored what he described as divine guidance and had become vulnerable to political miscalculations.
According to Ayodele, Kwankwaso is not fully committed to advancing Obi’s presidential aspirations.
“Peter Obi doesn’t listen to divine instructions, and because of this, he has fallen into the wrong hands for his ambition. Kwankwaso isn’t ready to fight for him; he will eventually sell him out, but he doesn’t know it yet. He has already muddled Obi’s presidential ambition,” he alleged.
Claims of Personal Interest
Ayodele further argued that Kwankwaso’s involvement in the political arrangement is driven more by personal political interests than by a genuine commitment to Obi’s success.
He claimed that the former Kano governor is pursuing his own agenda and suggested that Obi may not fully understand the political dynamics surrounding the alliance.
“Kwankwaso is doing everything for his personal interest and nothing more. I wish Obi’s eyes could be opened to what is happening around him, but he can’t see it.”
Remarks on Obi’s Presidential Ambition
Despite his criticism, Ayodele said he admires Obi’s courage and political determination. However, he maintained that the former Anambra State governor is not yet prepared for Nigeria’s highest office.
“I don’t hate Peter Obi, I love him and his courage, but he is not yet mature for the position he is seeking.”
The cleric also predicted that Kwankwaso’s intentions would eventually become clear but warned that any such revelation might come too late to benefit Obi politically.
“Kwankwaso’s plans will soon be exposed, but it will be too late for Peter Obi because he has gone very deep into it.”
Political Reactions Expected
The remarks have added another dimension to ongoing discussions about opposition alliances ahead of future elections. While supporters of both Obi and Kwankwaso continue to view cooperation among opposition figures as important for building a stronger political front, critics remain divided over whether such alliances are based on shared ideology or political convenience.
Neither Obi nor Kwankwaso has publicly responded to Ayodele’s comments at the time of reporting.
