President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has paid an emotional tribute to Nigerian soldiers killed during a coordinated terrorist attack in Benisheikh, describing them as “unforgettable and irreplaceable heroes.”
The attack, which targeted troops of the 29 Task Force Brigade under Operation HADIN KAI, occurred in the early hours of Thursday, according to the Defence Headquarters.
Military authorities revealed that insurgents attempted to breach the camp’s defenses but were met with intense resistance. Troops reportedly fought back with “exceptional courage and superior firepower,” successfully repelling the attackers.
However, despite the victory, the military confirmed that some soldiers lost their lives in the fierce exchange.
In a statement issued through his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu praised the bravery of the fallen troops, noting that their sacrifice prevented further destruction and protected surrounding communities.
“These soldiers are our heroes — unforgettable and irreplaceable,” the President stated.
He also urged the Armed Forces not to lose morale, insisting that the attack reflects desperation from insurgent groups, including Boko Haram, amid ongoing military offensives.
The President reassured Nigerians that the government remains committed to:

- Supporting troops on the frontline
- Ensuring the welfare of security personnel
