Peter Okoye speaks out on alleged 20-year betrayal as family rift resurfaces
Nigerian music star Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has once again stirred conversation online after opening up about his long-standing family dispute.
In a recent Facebook post, the singer expressed deep frustration, claiming that for over two decades, he was betrayed by those he once trusted. He questioned the sudden call for unity now that he has reportedly uncovered what he described as years of wrongdoing.
“We were not ‘blood’ when they were stealing from me… now that I’ve uncovered the betrayal… suddenly we’re blood?”
Peter made it clear that the issue is far from settled, revealing that the matter is still in court. He also drew a line between forgiveness and access, suggesting that even if peace is possible, trust may not be easily restored.
The situation traces back to the breakup of the iconic music group P-Square, which included Peter, his twin brother Paul Okoye, and their elder brother and former manager Jude Okoye.
Once one of Africa’s biggest music exports, the group split in 2017 following disagreements over finances, management, and creative direction. Although they reunited briefly in 2021, tensions appear to have resurfaced, with Peter continuing legal action over alleged financial issues.
His latest statement has reignited debate online, with fans divided. While some are calling for reconciliation and family unity, others believe accountability must come first before any form of peace.
